We met in front of Mike and Lou’s on Ocean Avenue, Bradley Beach in August of 1959. I was with a girlfriend on a rainy day and got into a friend’s car to get out of the rain. And Gary was in the car. We hung out on Brinley Avenue beach. We were just kids (15 and 16). Gary wasn’t even driving yet.
After that week, Gary pursued me at a youth group dance in my home town of Linden. Then we started double-dating with friends who drove. We went to each other’s proms and married in June of 1964 and have been together ever since.
It’s 52 years later and we still visit Bradley Beach on our anniversary. We always eat at Vic’s.
Bradley Beach, the “scene of the crime.”
