Over the Moon

Back in the late 60s, Roy Sherman met a lady in Bradley Beach named Maureen Oppenheim, He remembers her as being very beautiful and voluptuous.

It was 1965. Her name was Cindy. Her family lived next door. They were always down from Memorial Day until Labor Day. She was my first girlfriend, my first bud.

My wife’s family sent their daughter, Frieda, to Bradley Beach to meet a nice Syrian boy. Instead she came home with me. We were married in July 1963.

It was June 1962 and I had just graduated from high school. It was July 4th weekend, and I was taking my younger sister down the shore.

While living in Newark during the summer of 1951, a friend and I, both young, working adults, decided to visit my mother, Jeanette Sternig, and spend the day on the beach at Bradley Beach.

When I finally went to college, I still went back to Bradley with my girlfriend. The best way to describe what we looked forward to doing is best told by the name of a song, Under the Boardwalk.

William and Ella Paynter were married at the Grand Reformed Church, Asbury Park in July, 1877. They set up housekeeping in a little cottage on Asbury Avenue and in 1882 moved to Ocean Park, which was not yet part of Bradley Beach.
